چکیده
This study evaluated the toxicity and repellent activities of essential oils (EOs) against Sitophilus granarius (Linnaeus, 1758), both in vitro vivo conditions. The EOs obtained from Thymus pallescens No??. (Lamiaceae) Cymbopogon citratus Stapf. (Poaceae) were analyzed by GC-MS, revealed that carvacrol (56.64%) geraniol (20.8%) as respective major components. T. EO was found to be a more effective toxicant, with LC50 LC90 values 9.3 34.6 µL/mL, respectively, contact test vs 8.2 25.3 µL/mL fumigation test. showed also stronger effect ranging 83.4% 100%. In test, survival probability decreased 99.9 2.48% among insects exposed EO. These data demonstrated could considered alternatives chemical insecticides, providing pest control for stored products an ecologically sustainable manner.

Background: In Benin Republic, the conservation of fermented fishes for a long time is difficult due to the contamination of fungi, which lead to its rapid degradation. This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of Cymbopogon citratus Essential Oil (EO) against Aspergillus species isolated from fermented fish samples. Methods: Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry was used to determin...

This research evaluated the antimicrobial effect of the clove (Syzygium aromaticum) and lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus (DC.) Stapf.) essential oils (EOs) against Listeria monocytogenes ATCC 19117 growth added to bovine ground meat stored under refrigeration (5 ± 2 °C) for three days. The EOs, extracted by hydrodistillation and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), were test...

BACKGROUND Use of essential oils for controlling Candida albicans growth has gained significance due to the resistance acquired by pathogens towards a number of widely-used drugs. The aim of this study was to test the antifungal activity of selected essential oils against Candida albicans in liquid and vapour phase and to determine the chemical composition and mechanism of action of most potent...

Essential oils of Eulcalyptus globulus, Lavender officinalis, Rosemarinus officinalis, and Thymus vulgaris were examined for their repellent activities against Culex pipiens pallens. All 4 essential oils effectively repelled adult mosquitoes on hairless mice. Essential oil of T. vulgaris (thyme) had potent repellent activity within the tested materials, with a protection rate of 91% at a concen...
